Workplace Examination

Workplace Examination

Highlights of the Medwork approach to Workplace Examination

During one third of a day an employee is at his or her workplace performing the tasks he or she is hired for. A highly un-ergonomic or an ill-defined workplace is a cause for physical complaints and sooner or later will result in absenteeism. Beside absenteeism the complaints will have a negative impact on an employee’s morale.

In our approach the workplace of the employee is reviewed and assessed taking his or her function (work activities) into account. Our review and subsequent recommendations are based on the latest ergonomic standards and guidelines in relation to the physical posture and work behavior of the employee.

A Healthy and Ergonomic Workplace

A healthy and ergonomic workplace can be defined as:

  • A workplace that is safe, pleasant and ergonomic in nature
  • A workplace that can prevent and reduce complaints of back pain, neck and shoulder pain, fatigue, stress and Repetative Strain Injury (RSI); thereby preventing and reducing absenteeism.

The Workplace Examination

All Medwork workplace examinations are performed by a registrered Occupational Health Expert. A workplace examination includes:

  • An intake gathering information on age, height, weight, function and job description and complaints or comments with regard to the workplace
  • Measurement and analysis of the actual workplace in comparison to a desired workplace
  • Recommendations for improvements (Improvement Report)
  • Professional assistance with the implementation of measures mentioned in Improvement Report, upon request
  • Follow-up on recommendations.

An Improvement Report will include details on:

  • General office arrangement
  • Lighting
  • Office chair and desk
  • Other office tools such as PC monitor or laptop
  • Other equipment that will be used in the line of duty on a daily basis.

Ultimate goal of a Workplace Examination is to create a comfortable and safe workplace. It needs no explanation that creating such a workplace for your employees will lead to prevention of physical complaints and reduction of abseteeism.
